Teeth Whitening
What is Teeth Whitening?
Professional teeth whitening aims to remove years worth of stains and discoloration from your teeth. Whether you smoke, drink coffee or are simply getting older, your teeth might not be as white and bright as you would like them. In order to meet our patients’ needs, we offer both in-office as well as take-home whitening options. This allows you to achieve the dramatic and lasting results that you need or want.
Why would Teeth Whitening be needed?
You might be attending an important event or are simply trying to improve your self-esteem and confidence. Many different diet and lifestyle factors can contribute to a yellowed and dulled smile. Some of these include:
- Smoking and smokeless tobacco
- Drinking tea, coffee or cola
- Drinking fruit juices or eating dark fruits
- Certain medications
- Poor oral hygiene
- Aging

Who is a candidate for Teeth Whitening?
Whitening will typically only have an impact on natural teeth. Even the best whitening products won’t be able to lighten restorations like veneers or crowns anymore than they were when they were first placed. Your teeth should be otherwise healthy enough to be whitened. We can perform an examination to determine if you’re a good candidate for whitening and if so, the best solution to meet your goals and needs.
What happens during the Teeth Whitening process?
For our in-office whitening, we’ll have you sit comfortably in one of our operatories. We use special devices and tools to keep your lips separated from your teeth while they’re being whitened. We then apply a whitening gel to your teeth and activate the ingredients using a bright light. For take-home whitening, you’ll have customized trays made using impressions of your teeth. We then provide you with a whitening gel and instructions on how to wear the trays in the comfort of your own home. After treatment, you can keep the trays for future whitening and use.
