What are Dental Emergencies?
A dental emergency can strike at virtually any time, leaving you uncomfortable and in pain. Unfortunately, some emergencies cannot be prevented, which is why they often take us by surprise. We offer emergency care to every patient coming into our office regardless of age. Our goal is to provide you and your family with immediate emergency care that is comfortable and relaxed.
Why is treatment of Dental Emergencies needed?
If you don’t treat an emergency, the pain and discomfort that you’re experiencing right now will get worse. Dental-related problems very rarely get better on their own. This is why we recommend coming in for adequate and prompt treatment as soon as you notice there’s a problem. You can feel confident knowing that the treatment process is easy, quick and done at your own convenience in our office.
What are some of the most common Dental Emergencies?
We see a variety of different emergencies on a regular basis. We can cater to both adults and children alike, so we’re able to provide treatment for your whole family. Some of the more common emergencies that we handle include:
- Cracked or broken teeth
- Loose or lost restorations
- Broken or lost appliances
- Bleeding or swollen gums
What happens during the Dental Emergency appointment?
The emergency appointment begins by having you sit comfortably in one of our operatories. We then ask you about the problem you’re experiencing and when it started. We then perform an examination and take x-rays as needed. The x-rays allow us to see if there is a problem going on below the surface of your teeth and gums. We then provide you with the treatment that you need so that you can leave our office pain-free. If you have an infection, we may recommend taking antibiotics before any type of treatment is done.
