Dentures & Partials

What are Dentures & Partials?

Full or complete dentures are designed to replace all of your teeth on one full arch. Partial dentures are made to replace just the teeth you’re missing, and the appliance will clip onto the surrounding teeth to stay in place. Most dentures can last for five to seven years or longer with the proper care. Dentures offer cosmetic benefits as well as restorative benefits to your oral and dental health.

Why would Dentures & Partials be needed?

When you’re missing a great deal or all of your teeth, it can be difficult to eat, chew and feel confident in yourself. In some cases, your cheeks may even begin to look sunken-in, which can cause you to look older than you feel. Dentures help to replace the teeth you’re missing, improving your appearance and your oral functionality. Dentures are made to look completely natural, so no one will even know you’re wearing a prosthetic.

Who is a candidate for Dentures & Partials?

We will examine your teeth to determine if you’re a candidate for a full or partial denture. For patients with advanced gum disease, we might suggest removing the remaining teeth and placing a full denture. Dentures can and should be replaced once they show signs of wear or damage. We aim to make your new denture as comfortable and realistic-looking as possible so that you can enjoy a full and healthy smile for years to come.

What happens during the procedure for Dentures & Partials?

We begin the process by taking impressions of your teeth and gums. These detailed molds will be used to create and fabricate the new denture that you’ll wear. You will come in for a denture fitting. We can make minor adjustments to the denture in our office, and it’s common to need several adjustments before the denture fits perfectly. In order to keep the denture looking its best, you’ll want to remove it nightly to clean and store it away. Most denture patients will want to consider full replacement after about seven years of having their prosthetic.
